Organisations that require convenient, gender-neutral collection and laboratory accurate results frequently prefer oral fluid test options. Our oral fluid laboratory-based tests unobtrusively detect recent drug use.
Our oral fluid testing options are a reliable and innovative means of providing a fast and convenient specimen collection. The non-invasive collection method does not require the facilities necessitated by the privacy requirements of a urine collection and because each collection can be directly observed, the risk of specimen tampering is virtually eliminated.
Popular with our Drug Treatment and workplace clients, oral fluid has the shortest window of detection, which is typically up to 24-48 hours.
Abbott utilises state of the art equipment and technology to identify drug use in oral fluid. Our methodologies provide accurate, legally defensible results. As with all our testing options, full customer support is provided.
We can test for a wide range of drugs, drug groups and drug metabolites in urine, oral fluid and hair plus alcohol markers in urine and hair. Listed below are the most common tests requested by our customers. It should be noted however that this list is not exhaustive, and we have an extensive panel of available tests. Please contact us or request a Technical Specification to see all the back to laboratory tests available.
We can provide options for a variety of results formats and access to them including return to you via secure email or download from our secure customer portal.
Additional support can be provided in terms of Expert Witness Reports written by experienced scientists, providing you with professional and objective evidence from experts that are trained to attend court and tribunals to give evidence on the testing conducted. Independent interpretations of results by Medical Review Officers (MRO) are also available for workplace customers.
An MRO is applicable in a workplace setting and provides independent and expert scrutiny of positive results under medical confidentiality. In the case of a positive laboratory result, the MRO must determine whether this indicates the use of drugs in contravention of a company’s rules, or whether there may be a legitimate explanation.
The medical review process protects individuals in situations where mitigate for the results received may be present that would be relevant when taking action regarding violations of the Company Drug and Alcohol Policy. Not only can this be distressing for the individual, but can also lead to legal action against the employer along with adverse publicity. Therefore, we strongly recommend all clients testing their workforce should use a medical review process.*
We run a regular MRO workshop that is aimed at anybody completing medical reviews as part of a drug and alcohol testing programme.
However even if you are not an MRO you will still benefit as the workshop explains the process by which the MRO validates all test results and checks that the specimen collection and analytical procedures were properly accomplished.
