PARAMETERS DETECTED

Creatinine

This test covers the most common form of specimen tampering: specimen dilution. Dilution using diuretics is also often referred to as “flushing.”

Glutaraldehyde

This covers a class of chemicals not normally found in human urine. Common occurrences are additive products, such as Clear Choice or UrinAid.

Nitrites

This covers a class of chemicals not normally found in human urine. Common occurrences are the additive of products, such as Klear or Whizzies.

Oxidants and PCC

Tests for the presence of oxidizing reagents such as bleach, hydrogen peroxide and pyridinium chlorochromate (PCC).

pH

Tests for the presence of acidic or alkaline adulterants in urine.

Specific Gravity

Tests for the viscosity of the urine sample.

References

Detection of creatinine, nitrite, glutaraldehyde, pH, specific gravity, and oxidants/pyridinium chlorochromate (PCC) in human urine. This test provides a preliminary screen only. A more specific alternate chemical method must be used in order to obtain a confirmed analytical result. Abnormal results should be sent to a laboratory for confirmation.

For adulteration screening purposes only. Not for diagnostic use.

Adulteration test strips provide only a preliminary screen for urine adulteration; it does not indicate the level or concentrations of compounds present in the sample. Presumptive positive results should be run by a confirmatory method.
