TOXICOLOGY
Hair Drugs & Alcohol Marker Laboratory Testing
Organisations that require a longer window of detection often opt for a hair drug and/or alcohol marker test to view use over months rather than days or weeks. Hair is a non-invasive sample and used mostly for pre-employment tests to provide an overview of drug use or abstinence.
Benefits
One of the main benefits of hair testing is that drug use can be detected going back over several months to years, if the length of the sample is sufficient. This extended window of detection makes hair testing particularly useful in legal cases and pre-employment tests.
- Overview analysis available
- Non-invasive sample type with a long window of detection
- The laboratory has validated confirmation methods that are accredited by UKAS to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (accreditation number: 2720)
- Our sample collection process follows a full chain of custody protocol
- Confirmation testing provides fully defensible results for a court of law or industrial tribunal
- Certificate of Analysis and a toxicological review written by experienced scientists, providing you with interpretation of results if required.
Our results will be returned within 4 working days of receipt of the sample at the laboratory.
Test Types
Abbott utilises state of the art equipment and technology to identify drugs and/or a alcohol marker in hair. Our methodologies provide accurate, legally defensible results.
We can test for a wide range of drugs, drug groups and drug metabolites in urine, oral fluid and hair plus alcohol markers in urine and hair. Listed below are the most common tests requested by our customers. It should be noted however that this list is not exhaustive, and we have an extensive panel of available tests.
Alcohol Markers
- Ethyl glucuronide (EtG)
The hair alcohol marker we test for is ethyl glucuronide (EtG) which is a metabolite of alcohol present in hair after the consumption of alcohol and gives comprehensive information about chronic excessive alcohol use. This testing is in line with the Society of Hair Testing's (SoHT) current consensus, in relation to chronic excessive alcohol consumption.
Drugs or Drug Groups
- Amphetamine
- Methamphetamines (incl. MDMA)
- Benzodiazepines
- Cannabis
- Cocaine
- Ketamine
- Mephedrone
- Methadone
- Opiates (incl. morphine, codeine and heroin)
